A little about SWCDs . . .

Meeker SWCD’S Mission Statement:

Soil and Water Conservation Districts and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) share a common mission to provide technical assistance for the implementation of conservation practices that protect and enhance the natural resources of the state. Our shared responsibilities are to individual landowners and the general public we serve.

As the implementers of state and federal cost-share programs and providers of technical assistance, we have the responsibility to ensure that technical representatives for individual projects have the appropriate expertise and authority for the roles assigned.

The Meeker SWCD Board generally meets at 8 a.m. on the first Tuesday of each month at the USDA Service Center, 916 East St. Paul Street in Litchfield.

Compensation and reimbursement for expenses for Supervisors are made when the Supervisor is attending an event on District business. The compensation rate is set by the District Board and is currently $75 per diem. Auto mileage is reimbursed at a rate set by the District Board, currently $0.545/mile.  All other expenses, such as lodging and meals, are reimbursed at actual cost.

The current Meeker SWCD Board (comprised of Bob Schiefelbein, Fred Behnke, Dan Barka and Greg Jans) will make an appointment to complete the term of the open seat which ends December 31, 2018.  The position will be up for election to a four year term to begin January 1, 2019, at the general election in November of 2018.
