Full Time Assistant Feedlot Officer/Ag-Weed Inspector

Meeker County Soil & Water Conservation District has an opening for a full-time Assistant Feedlot Officer/AG Weed Inspector.  This position will be responsible for permitting and administering animal feedlots, manure storage areas and registration programs according to MN Rule Chapter 7020 and the Meeker County Feedlot Ordinance and dealing with weed issues in the county.

Duties include:  working closely with SWCD, NRCS, MPCA, Extension Service and Meeker County Planning and Zoning to develop and disseminate informational and educational materials related to feedlot issues; prioritizing feedlots for permitting and upgrading; administering MPCA feedlot program; working closely with farm community and other parties to ensure program fairness and efficiency; attending and holding public information meetings as needed; resolving feedlot issues of a complex nature. 

Qualifications:  knowledge of laws and regulations covering feedlots in Minnesota; understanding of Wetland Conservation Laws.  Degree in Biology, Farm Management, Agronomy, Soil Science, Animal Science or related fields of study, or minimum of four years’ experience in these or related fields required.  Must possess a current valid Minnesota Driver’s License.

Salary Range: $35,000 - $45,000/year.
