The Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) is a set of standards designed to eliminate sexual abuse within the confines of the criminal justice system. In compliance with the PREA Standards, the Meeker County Detention Center has a zero tolerance policy toward all forms of sexual abuse and sexual harassment in our facility. The Meeker County Sheriff's Office will enforce all laws pertaining to inmate sexual misconduct and thoroughly investigate any allegation of sexual abuse or harassment.
Reporting Sexual Assault
You may report a sexual assault that occurred in the Meeker County Detention Center or another facility by calling 320-693-5400, or 320-693-5415, to speak with Sheriff's Office personnel. You may also utilize the Sheriff's Confidential Tip Line at 320-693-5411, or contact the Meeker County Victim Witness Coordinator at 320-693-5220.
Inmates that have experienced a sexual assault or are aware of an assault are encouraged to inform a staff member or supervisor as this will provide the quickest response.
False allegations of sexual assault will be investigated for possible criminal charges.
